So what do you think??

Me driving in the smart tunnel :)

I managed to check out the SMART tunnel today and was pretty impressed with the duration it took for me to reach home in PJ from my office located along Jln Tun Razak Selatan. I left the parking area at 5.55pm and reached home at 6.25pm. Not bad, the normal duration would normally be at least 45 mins but today it only took 30 mins. I was not stuck in any traffic jam except when I wanted to exit to Jln 222. But then again, it didn't take more than 2 mins. However, a few of my colleagues told me that the Smart tunnel which exits at Jalan Tun Razak from Jalan Sg Besi is somehow pretty congested as drivers have problems changing lanes and another obvious reason is the fact that the so called civilised and smart Malaysians just love to jump queues. What I hate most is not only they jump queues but shamelessly put on a poker face after that. Like they didn't do anything wrong! Urggh!

The tunnel was very well lit and pretty spacious...but since it is new I do hope that drivers would drive within the speed limit and stay on the right lane, the exits can be pretty confusing..you need to read the signages as fast as you can.....now I sound like the "Menteri Kerjaraya pulak!".

So what say you? Are you planning to opt for the SMART tunnel?? Oh and the toll is expected to be on the higher range as well. Alamak!

I might just continue taking the LRT train la...since it is the most convenient way to travel nowadays (minus the technical problem once in awhile).

So have fun people, enjoy the free ride and for those of you who have not tried.....go la!

I've been waiting to try out the SMART tunnel since its supposedly earlier launch in March. But now takde reason lagi to pass by there. Will do soon.

Nour, from everyone that has tried the smart tunnel commented that it does save time. Maybe I will try it too...

I wonder how much it will cost? I mean the toll.

Hi Nour,

I was one of them using the smart tunnel which exits at Jln Tun Razak from Jln Sg besi, am not impressed. It was congested. The bumper to bumper ride was depressing, being couped up in an enclosed area, rather claustrophobic. Sigh! Not my kinda ride dear.

My friend went for the smart tunnel run a couple of months ago before it was officially open. Many complained that the ventilation was bad. Some runners fainted.

Anyways, how much is the toll charge, yah?

Hi trueblue,
Hehehe…you sound like one…ni mesti masa kecik nak jadi polis…I had to snap the photo very la the cepat.. There were not many cars..so it was okay
Well, the Smart tunnel tak dela menda sangat but what impressed me the most is the fact that I could skip and avoid the “forever congested” Jalan Sungai Besi altogether. Lega tak yah get stuck in the bumper to bumper crawl Best!

DG,
Tryla..you might never know it might save you a lot of time…tak rugi!
Right now they have not finalized the toll rates yet but Mr Samy did say that it would be on the higher range due to the cost of building the tunnel.

Hi Ruby,
Missed having you here, anyways you are right, the tunnel that starts at Jln Sungai Besi and exits at Jln Tun Razak is bad. The drivers cant go the left like before but need to go straight while drivers from the kampong pandan roundabout heading towards KLCC have problems cutting in to use the tunnel to KLCC.

I do hope they will think of a way to eliminate this problem.

Raz,
Oh my..scary nye..mana la tau kalau jam kat dalam the tunnel for hours...seram jugak, dahlah vantilation teruk and not to mention the rather claustrophobic scenario! Panic attack nanti..yikes!

Hi Nour,
First time here..... :)
Too bad I won't be able to test-drive the Smart tunnel for free...I gather the free ride is for a limited time only, like 1 month?
Yeah agreed with you - they do need to iron out the kinks at Sg Besi...if they want to encourage people to use this alternative route, albeit at a higher toll rate.

Hi theta,
Just checked yr blog, love it...:)
Yeah the free ride is for a month...and personally I think using the tunnel heading towards PJ in the evening after work really helps! But may be not for the mornings though.

Sometimes paying the toll is the same as paying for the oil price/petrol consumption while being stuck in the jam along the jln tun razak and sg besi stretch heading home.

Thanks for dropping by ya.

UBA,
Yup agreela...cant stand the jam with banjir altogether. There was once I was stuck for two whole damn hours!!!

Azer,
Heyya..how are you doing?
Do go and check it out while it is still fee :D

akula,
seram jugak..ramai gak kata ada possibilty yang the smart tunnel might have problems kalau banjir teruk..:P
Tapi rasanye bila banjir I tak nak la guna smart...I guna the normal route..:)
