Busy weekend

I had a busy weekend with a few guests (aunties & uncles) from Singapore staying over for the weekend and driving them around to attend invitations for lunch and a birthday party on Saturday and a wedding back in Ulu Langat on Sunday. After the hectic schedule, I am currently at the office experiencing Monday blues with 80 percent of the work force on long holiday. :P

The lunch invitation we had on Saturday was from my aunt who lives in Bangsar. She wanted all of us to have a get together session with my aunts and uncles from Singapore. The last time they met was like a year ago. The food they prepared were the original traditional dishes from Singapore, they had dishes like nasi rawan with begedel, acar nenas, kerabu timun, ikan terebuk bakar, tiger prawns cooked in chilli paste, “rempah” fried chicken and so forth. Although food was splendid but somehow I felt uncomfortable at my aunt’s place. Honestly, I never feel at ease being there as both my uncle and aunt are so into table manners/etiquettes. As for me, I believe in simplicity, dread the high and mighty air and having to behave all the time. It sucks the happy feeling out of me. Hehehe :P

After lunch in Bangsar, we headed towards my brother's place in Taman Melawati for a birthday bash. We were celebrating the birthday of the December babies. As usual I was in charge of the party packs and games. I had a wonderful time playing with the kids. Last year we had 2 games and the kids did not want to leave, thus this year we increased them to 4 games but still the kids did not want to leave as well. So the moral of the story I was telling my brother is no matter how many games you have, kids will never want to leave. How’s that? Muahaha :P

A kid trying to pin the tail to the horse...opps I hope it is not too far away!

The theme for the cake this year is the character from the movie "Happy Feet".

The grand occasion was the wedding on Sunday. The theme colour was hunter green and the nikah ceremony portrayed an emotional scene for the groom’s family as both parents cried when the nikah was officially solemnized. It was probably tears of joy for the whole family. My cousin, the bride was smiling the whole day, she was the happiest girl on earth I would say. I was on my feet (uurgh!) for the whole three hours as the “berkat” person. Giving out little gifts for the stream of people who came to celebrate the special occassion. Oh another thing that got me all disappointed while handing those gifts is the lack of manners of the people who came by. Noticed as I handed them the gifts, 1 out 10 people would smile and say thank you, the rest would just accept without acknowledging. Gosh, I thought the KL-ians are capable of that. Sad eh ! A simple smile and a terima kasih doesn’t take much out of a person right?? What is wrong with having a little bit of warmness for one another, after all we are supposed to be the friendly Malaysians!

The lovely couple!

I have a few days left before I head for Jakarta for the Christmas holiday. YEEHAA!!!

gravt,
hey ya...nasi rawan tu originated from the Javanese, it is beef cooked in black gravy which is from buak keluak. It looks exactly like kuah daging masak kicap...tapi rasa lainla.
