I guess, I do agree with the above statement, you would never know what life has in store for you until you give it a go. All through my life, I have always been the ‘worrying pot”…always been critical in life, every decision I have made, in my entire life was based on worrying that the world would fall flat on me. Nowadays, I keep telling myself, life is too short to be worrying, take whatever comes and live life to the fullest. So that is my main mission in life, thus so far. I ain’t gonna sweat the small stuff anymore.
A close friend of mine, was at Kinokuniya buying a book for her mom when she called me one day to say “ Hey you, I am currently checking out this book and I think you would enjoy it too”. I did not hesitate to then grab the book by Richard Carlson, titled “ Don’t Sweat the Small Stuff……and it’s all Small Stuff”. I learned a lot from this book which made loads of sense. Sometimes being human, we tend not to realise, these small stuff are the things overtaking our lives. Small things, for example, getting upset with our imperfections, those mistakes we often make unintentionally. Listening too much to our negative thoughts and always lacking in patience. There are many choices we have to face in life which contributes to all these worries and critical behaviour.
Well, now I have learned to take a deep breath whenever I need to decide on anything. I will ask myself, is it worth saying all those harsh things when I am in a foul mood? Hmnn well, it helps because most of the time, I will end up smiling to myself..Hehe! Try it, you’ll never know, it might work for you too:-P
Also another point to add, whenever I am in a conversation with someone, I will always let the other party enjoy the “glory”. Often, when you are in a group, talking to each other, there would be a few individuals who would proudly layout their accomplishments right infront of you and insist of having an upper hand in the conversations. As a result others might get pretty insecured and try to top the said accomplishments s.. These boring conversations will never end……So normally, I would choose to let the others have the “glory” or the "light". Biarla bagi chance. Indirectly, you feel more calm and confident. You don't need to impress to be accepted. Try and assess yourself when you are in that same situation, what would you do, if the other person shoves you with all his/her accomplishments in life? Would you try to outdo him?
Nonetheless, the most important stuff which I really need to look into, is to learn to tolerate stress. I am really bad at this. Far often, this stress is created NOT only by me but also my surroundings. Life is never fair, I guess I should learn to let go on issues that is beyond my reach or control. Better late than never eh…
