Since we are already in the fourth quarter of the year, many of us might be rushing to finish up our annual leave entitlements while many companies/organizations are busy hosting their respective teambuilding or away day sessions locally or abroad. The division I am currently attached to, organized a conference cum dinner in A Famosa, Malacca last Thursday and Friday. We were asked (more like forced to..heheh!!) to come up with singing/sketch/karaoke performances. We were split into groups/teams and were asked to perform or participate in groups/teams. Oh well, you know that time of the year where you are given the opportunity to humiliate and make a fool of yourself. Hehehe!
My team, we were pretty horrible when we were on stage, we only managed to choreograph our stage performance 10 minutes before the show. We suck BIG TIME I tell you but totally enjoyed ourselves…hahahah! Oh by the way, the theme for the night was the 70's style.

I was appointed as one of the organizing committee at the very last minute. So when my number was called for the first round of lucky draw…I could hear my friends teasing, “ohhhhh man, what is the probability of a committee member winning the first round of lucky draw ehhh’’…:-P..Yayaya, how can one manipulate the numbers when the big boss was the one who picked out the number right? Apa dahhh…How I wish, my number was called for the grand prize. I got something cute and handy.
I have never considered myself as a sports person. In fact I have never fancied outdoor activities that involves any kind of running and streneous sports. However, this time round, I did enjoy the telematch and teambuilding sessions. We had to build rafts from scratch and was told that the pond is like 30 feet deep. When I saw the river, I went like ..NO WAY!!!. We had 12 people in a team and only 10 are allowed to go in. Two bosses were not fit to join in. So I had no choice but to go in and sit on the raft. Scary! The rule stated was:- we need to build the raft with the bamboos and tali rafia given and three big tyres. It doesn’t matter what shape the raft turns out to be but it has to float. Life jackets are given and we need to transfer all ten of us from the starting point to the pitch stop - the jetty and the no of rounds we need to make is 6 (back and from) with one paddle for each team/group.
Our team won second place in the overall games. But I still think we were actually the winner because our raft reached the pitch point ahead of the first place team, but the game instructor thought otherwise he said although we reached the jetty first those other guys were on land first, they stopped at the side of the pond. Sigh!! Oh well, like my team mates said what matters is we know we are the winner..hahahah..sour grape betulkan.

Ya la Nour, committee should have not win lucky draw! Hehehe...

It is having fun and learning new things that is what matters...

What is that something CUTE and HANDY you won? ;-)
The raft-building and paddling sounds fun!!!
best giller yg part raft tu. hmm. should consider A Famosa for team building event next year.
row row row your rakit. Oh beshhhhhh nyeeeee!
oh dear i used to hate all these things...but now bila ingat balik...it seems really fun...
Hi Nour,
Hmm..what fun you had eh? Great! Better you than me. I tak suka outdoor lah..ha ha.
Anyway since you did it, well done. Sour grape? No way! Yes you were the winner. What we know that count.
I am so not an outdoor kinda person...hehehe..but the raft thingy looked cool..id still be too scared to get in the raft :P
hi nour!
woww, i'm so envious of you!! i sooo LOVE outdoor stuff - it just bring out the hidden tomboy in me!!
anyway, hope you had fun there!
take care dear!
lil sis,
When I saw the equipement and the water/pond, I told myself..habislah...with my stamina sure pancit...somehow I didnt and it was so much fun..You shld try it nanti :)
DG,
I guess winning is not the main thing here having the team spirit is important. The togetherness is the main objective..Hehehe
I didnt think I was lucky to bring anything back that night..bcos me and lucky draws somehow never rhyme..:D
gravt,
it was FUN!!! :)
theta,
the cute and handy item I got is the multipurpose pouch!
It was soo much fun that I might do it again if they ever decide to go to Afamosa again..but I was told by another division, their team buliding was in one of the resorts in PD and the river rafting was actually done in the ocean. It was tougher they say as they had to paddle against the wave.
zetty,
mak cik mmg best..you shld suggest to your colleagues to go there for your teambuilding the next time round.
dnas,
hehehe..row2 row yr float...the toughest part is to balance the rakit. Sorang kena paddle, sorang kena pegang the rakit sebab kena balance...and sorang lagi kena kayuh guna tangan or kaki.
eddy,
I rasa this teambuilding I had in AFamosa is nothing as compared to the biro tatanegara which I had to attend masa nak gi UK dulu..Aisey dengan pacat lagi and the air sampai dada.. Ya Allah kena tutup mata lagi..Scary giles!
Ruby,
I wld have to agree with you on that. I never liked any outdoor activities. Was never the sporty type. I hate the extra curriculum activities they had when I was in secondary school. Those were the yucky old days :)
cosmic gurl,
I didnt have the choice, was abt to chicken out when my friend told me..no choice..the bosses tak nak masuk and we need to have 10 pple..so me dgn selmabanye just went on the raft. I guess a girl's got to know what a girl's got to do la huh..:D
elly,
So next time we have this river rafting session I shall import you to replace me..can??? hehehe :D
Take care..hope you are fine..lama tak see you blogging.
