LOVE hurts...

Yup I plan to be a bear rug since I am off today. My boss approved my replacement leave for today since I had to work late on one of those Saturdays. Yeay!!! I got a call from my eldest sis early in the morning asking me why I am at home…and she even ask me…why are you on leave?? Slept late watching Siti’s wedding, is it??? Yeah, right! Isn’t it great to have your sister checking up on you early in the morning to see whether you are working or not! :-P

I am planning to spend the day today finishing up on my reading. Gosh, in fact I am still stuck with my novel. I can’t seem to move to another chapter as my mind is still hooked on to a ‘hot’ story I heard from a girlfriend over lunch yesterday. I can’t seem to get it off my mind and was wondering how blind one can be when it comes to relationships.

This is a story about a lady who happens to be a friend of a close friend of mine. Anyway this lady G, met an Australian guy when he was working in the same office in KL. They started off as office mates, friends and eventually fell in love with one another (till now I still wonder was it love or lust?). They became an item and after a year, he went back to their office in Australia. They still stayed in touch, went for holidays together and never fail to communicate via phone or the computer. However lately, he seems to be preoccupied with some other things and Lady G is sensing something is obviously wrong. She is currently feeling insecure. Whenever she calls, he will always be in a meeting, however he says he still loves her and plans for a future together.

Lady G said to us, her instincts tells her, he is not sincere. So to prove her point to us, she came up with a plan which was pretty amusing. She got online one night and saw he was online as well, she changed her nickname and started messaging him. Hoping and praying that he would ignore this so called new girl she was pretending to be. Oh boy, what happened was too hurting as he did reply to her messages and even asked for the new girl’s number. The yahoo chat sessions when on for weeks, he was definitely flirting with this new girl and even told her he was coming down for a conference. She was so heartbroken. Lady G told us she is determined to get him here and catch him in action!

Lady G told us, how surprised she is that a guy who is successful and normal who she had known professionally at the office can turn out to be a jerk! She said she would have expected that from someone she would have met randomly online but not someone you would know at the office. Well, I guess nowadays you just can’t trust anyone.

Yiikees, I told her, he is a jerk and something is just not right. I told her to abandon her mission as it is just a waste of time and in the end could hurt her even more. Just dump the jerk and move on! She plans to confront him when he comes here for the conference. Well, when a person is all geared up for a mission anything you say or do will not make a difference. I wish her luck and hopefully it won’t turn out to be a nasty confrontation.

Communication issues...

Sometimes I wonder how messages can get distorted so easily. Sometimes, the person passing the message was probably not listening carefully or may be due to the excitement, he or she could have carelessly missed out a few important facts. Anyway something funny happened last week and till now it still makes me laugh my head off.

Last Friday, I called my dad from the office and the conversation was as follows:

Dad : Hello
Me : Hello, just to let you know, do not call me at my cell number, battery is very low and it will go off soon.
Dad : OK
Me : And don’t worry, I will pick mama up at the hospital today after she is done with her dialysis session.
Dad : OK. Bye.

So there I was after work heading towards the dialysis unit and saw my mom there with the nurse doing her last minute weight checking. My mom after seeing me, asked me, “how come you are here, I thought your dad called me and said he is coming to pick me up as your car battery went dead”.

I was left speechless, I thought my cell phone battery went dead NOT my car battery. Muuuahahahaa :D

Moral of the story, when you have aged parents, please be clear when conversing as probably they have a lot of things on their mind or may be due to the daily medication their hearing is not as perfect as it used to be. Nonetheless, I love my parents very much and all those hiccups that sometimes arises are those things I would not wanna miss it for the world, I was laughing my head off thinking about my dad and how he does make my life interesting. Laughter is definitely the best medicine! :)

Quizzes...check them out!

I am in the mood for the all girls’ blogthings quizzes. Tried a few questionnaires and found the following results pretty amusing. I like the result for the first quiz, especially the part on being a perfect girlfriend…oolalaaaaa :P

YOU ARE A WOMAN!

You Are A Woman!

Congratulations, you've made it to adulthood.
You're emotionally mature, responsible, and unlikely to act out.
You accept that life is hard - and do your best to keep things upbeat.
This makes you the perfect girlfriend... or even wife!

As for the second quiz, my favourite colour has always been blue, however the results had a few contradicting facts ie. happy at most when serious with someone! Not true, as I am most happy when I am contented with myself. You should never depend on another person to make you happy right?

YOUR AURA IS BLUE
Your Aura is Blue

Your Personality: Your natural warmth and intuition nurtures those around you. You are accepting and always follow your heart.

You in Love: Relationships are your top priority, and this includes love. You are most happy when you are serious with someone.

Your Career: You need to help others in your job to feel satistifed. You would be a great nurse, psychologist, or counselor.

The third quiz has some connections to my favourite flower, the ROSE. Well instead of the light pink colour I just adore roses in champagne colour. They look lovely and classy . This quiz describes me the most.

YOU ARE LIGHT PINK ROSE

You Are a Light Pink Rose

You represent sweetness and grace.

Your vibe: Kind and gentle

Falling in love with you: is like falling in love with a best friend

Gosh, the final quiz was something I had to check out as it involved my fave TV series, the Sex & the City, it was pretty interesting to note which character I would fall under, as I have always love the Charlotte character. You know how an idealist she can be with her unusual expectations. Hmm, I do think like her huh?? yikess :P

YOU ARE MOST LIKE CHARLOTTE!

You Are Most Like Charlotte!

You are the ultimate romantic idealist
You've been hurt before, but that hasn't caused you to give up on love.
If anything, your resolve to fall in love is stronger than ever.
And it's this feminine optimism that men find most appealing about you.

Romantic prediction: That guy you are seeing (or crushing on)?

Could be very serious - if you play your cards right!

Do check out the quizzes and discover your true inner feelings and expectations. Start clicking on the links, people!! So which Sex and the City Vixen are you?

Is HE being friendly or weird?

Posted by Picasa
It’s the first day of the week and there goes one weekend filled with boring discussions and consultants. Well, I am glad I can put that aside for a few days and concentrate on other important issues. Ohh and it is already school holidays, I just love holidays… not because of the long leave but more like me having the opportunity to drive in smooth traffic flow and NO bosses around! Yeay!!

So, I decided to drive today and something weird happened this morning while I was on my way to work. The car was crawling along the 'Jalan Tun Razak' stretch when suddenly a van on my right hand side slowed down, I turned and saw a guy next to the driver winding down his side window and giving me this big wave and happy smile. He looked like an excited boy in his 20’s…. Yikes, what is that all about?? It freaked me out as first, thinking he was a crazy man driving with a friend along the highway with a mission to victimize all single women driving alone.
I have read so many articles on how you have to be careful while driving alone. These road bullies and robbers would normally target those driving alone. The latest was an attack on one of the AF1 participants – Burn, he was in a car, driving very early in the morning, probably on his way to work when four men cornered his car and forced him out. They bashed him up before taking his valuables and left him there to suffer. Thank god it was only minor bruises for him.

Anyway back to my personal encounter, I was speechless for a minute when I saw the guy waving directly at me, I looked at my rear mirror to see what is at the back passenger seat that would have probably caught his eyes. Nothing was there!! Then, I looked at the top I was wearing, anything funny about it, NO it can’t be when I was wearing a baju kurung today. Anyway, I just ignored him since I was in between many cars and I was only a few minutes away from the office. I just drove straight to the parking lot. The guy after waving at me, wind-up his window and the driver just drove as per normal.

At the parking lot, I checked the car, noted nothing was wrong with it, hmmm, pretty scary eh, when you see unknown people on the road giving you all those gestures. With all the road bullies and robbers around, you should never take things for granted. I hope it was just a friendly act on the guy’s part, especially since it was a sunny Monday morning… Yikes!!!

Why ME?

Check Out Blinkyou.com to make your own personal notes + much more!
It’s Friday today...yesss and my mood for fridays will always be happy, jolly and fantastic. I was humming and singing to a few favourite songs while driving to work this morning. The bad traffic didn’t affect me much as I told myself, it's only today and tomorrow, I don’t need to get out of bed as early as today. Oh boy that was just wishful thinking on my part now as I have to work tomorrow! My boss broke the bad news to me so early in the morning. Damn! My happy thoughts were crushed “boom bam" as soon as I got the news. He had to convey to me this interesting statement, “we are having the system consultant here tomorrow (Saturday) and you are needed to be around for the whole day, so please make yourself available”. So there goes my weekend, I would probably have only Sunday to rest. Talk about last minute decisions and instructions. Life is so unfair.

I don’t mind half days on Saturdays but not full days la huh?

As for you lovely people out there, have a wonderful weekend and please enjoy the relaxing moment with your family and friends. While you are at it, do go and watch the movie “Click”, you will learn to appreciate those little things in life.

One in a million….a success?

It’s Sunday morning, and I am still down with my cold and fever. Been sneezing the whole weekend and somehow the cold medication does not seem to work as fast as it used to. Normally, after taking the cold tablet which will force me to sleep for hours and once I am wide awake, I will be cold free. However this time round, the ‘running nose’ keeps haunting me. Oh well, I just have to be patient. May be it’s the age, the medication takes a longer time to work? Hehehehe :P

I was talking to my brother yesterday about the reality show 'One in a million' aired on 8TV every friday. We both came to a conclusion that Dayang Nurfaizah should not be competing in this particular ‘One in a million" show. Reasons being she has the added advantage as compared to the other contestants. The added advantages are as follows:-

1. Vocal/Singing techniques. Apart from the singing talent she already has, she might have gone for many vocal and dancing lessons.

2. Communication skills. She has better rapport with the media. She definitely has better communication skills since I am sure she must have gone through grooming lessons in order for her to be where she is now. What do you expect she has been in the industry for many years. I remembered when she first joined the music industry, she did not have the confidence and her dressing was pretty out. After signing up with ZA cosmetics and some help from the image consultants, she did change for the better. If you look at the finalists now, they definitely look better as compared to Dayang when she was really new to the industry.

3. Showmanship. After years of experience performing in live in-house concerts over RTM or TV3 or even Planet Hollywood, don’t you think she has an added advantage as compared to other finalists? She definitely would have the experience to perform and communicate with the live audience. Interacting with the fans requires loads of experience and I bet she has that.

4. Fan base. Dayang as you all know has always been popular with fans of the R&B genre. After producing a few albums, I bet she has managed to have a powerful and loyal fan base which comes from many years of singing and performing. How can the other finalists compete with that?

I have nothing against Dayang, in fact I like her husky voice.

Posted by Picasa Alia the fourth contestant to be eliminated.

I can strongly say that “One in a Million’ is a very challenging reality show where from day one itself, the top guns of 8TV had agreed to allow professional singers to enter and compete. As they want every finalist to give their best and outdo those who are already professionals. I am sure their main aim is to produce a winner with professional quality. But then again, this could only be successful when they make it a ground for perfect competition, contestants with the same singing background, experience, vocal strength and skills. Not when there is a vast difference! I bet the new ones are very good and talented but as usual they need the right time frame to prove themselves. 8TV definitely has good intentions but they should have studied the whole process before taking in a professional singer as one of the finalists. They should look and study the contestants first, do these contestants have the essence or the x-factor to outdo the existing professional singers because at the end of the day it will be frustrating to note the vast disparity between Dayang and the rest of the remaining finalists. As for the two permanent juries, Paul Moss can really go off tangent at times, with his unnecessary and harsh remarks.

Oh and I think Dayang should not be related to Beyonce Knowles as I am sure most of you would agree that she has her own unique style eh! ( hmm, I think I came across something said about Dayang being similar to Beyonce in the local papers long time ago)...

My all time fave songs...

Tevin Campbell - I'm Ready video

Lyrics:
Verse 1:Baby, it was uncool to love me
Then leave me standing here now
Without a goodbye
And maybe
I am the fool you call me'cause
I'll be here standing waiting
To hear you say to me
Chorus:I'm ready (you know I'm ready)
To love you (to love you)
Forever (forever)
And ever, baby
Come and love me forever more
Repeat chorus
Verse 2:Sometimes, when I'm alone
I feel sad'cause
I know you'll meet me once again
And take my pride
And maybe
I am the fool you call me'cause
I'll be here standing waiting
To hear you say to me
Chorus
And once again I'll be right here
Waiting to share your love
And oh this for once
We'll forever be in love
Chorus

Brian McKnight - Back At One

Lyrics:

It's undeniable
That we should be together
It's unbelievable
How I used to say
That I'd fall never
The basis is need to know
If you don't know
Just how I feel
Then let me show you now
That I'm for real
If all things in time
Time will reveal

(chorus)
One
You're like a dream come true
Two
Just wanna be with you
Three
Girl, it's plain to see
That you're the only one for me
And four
Repeat steps one thru three
Five
Make you fall in love with me
If ever I believe my work is done
Then I'll start back at one

It's so incredible
The way things work themselves out
And all emotional
Once you know what it's all about, hey
And undesirable
For us to be apart
I never would have made it very far
'Cause you know you've got the keys to my heart

(chorus)
Say farewell to the dark of night
I see the coming of the sun
I feel like a little child
Whose life has just begun
You came and breathed new life
Into this lonely heart of mine
You threw out of the lifeline
Just in the nick of time

(chorus out)

Arrrghhh!!

I am down with a bad sore throat and massive body ache. A few hours ago, I went to see the doctor in the clinic located in the office building and got myself some medication. Since I didn’t have any fever, I was not given a day off :( That theory of giving patients MC only if they have fever is just crap. You dont need to have fever to feel sick.

The doctor said to me “ I will give you lozenges for your throat and something for your body aches. Looks like I have no other choice but to rough it through today and hopefully the medication will ease my dry sore throat. I am sure at the look of things, this is a beginning to a viral fever and definitely not one of my normal sinusitis symptoms.

This will definitely be my last visit to this doctor. Arrghhhh!

PMS....

Yup, the word “PMS” was what caught my interest when I opened the door to a seminar room full of participants this morning. I was shocked to hear the word “PMS” when I was in the room and was walking towards an empty seat. What went running in my head at that point of time was “Why is the speaker talking about PMS (thinking it was the Premenstrual Symptoms..) in a supposedly banking course!!!”. Well I guess this scenario of me hearing weird words happens only when my mind is elsewhere as too much energy was focused on rushing to get to the place on time. I was 10 minutes late and I blame it on the terrible crawl along federal highway (Oops, I hope my boss doesn’t read this :P)

Anyway after having found my seat, I calmed myself down and started to sink into the reading materials. Then, I found out the exact definition of PMS in today’s context, it means Profitability Measurement System. Muahahaha.

It was a very exhausting session, sitting and listening to the speaker. He has the thick Southern US accent. His complicated presentation slides were definitely a killer, it was killing me softly. Also not to forget, the problem solving/Q & A till now gives me the headache (at this moment my brain has gone to the stage of “tepu”).

Oh well, sitting and listening to him today reminded me of my past experience sitting in one of my lil sis’s microeconomics lectures while she was studying in US. I was there for a holiday and decided to try out the lectures there. I just love the warmness, openness and cuteness of the professors in US. :P Totally opposite of the economics professors I had in UK, many years ago. The professor I had was too ancient and he talks with his hands shaking and the famous Einstein hairstyle he had was more like a “bear-ing or barometer” for me. I used to tell my friends that just by looking at my professor’s hair and the way his hair goes, you can definitely detect the direction of the wind :-P

Those were the gold old days eh. If only I could turn back time. It is refreshing to look and ponder on the old, bitter sweet, good and beautiful memories. Reminiscing on my childhood and college life sometimes makes me laugh.

Oh well, I better get some sleep now as tomorrow is another day of hard work. I really need all the energy to stay wide awake for tomorrow’s topics.

Happy working y'all!

Cheesy week

Oh yes, don’t we all love weekends eh! I do and I just can’t wait to get myself in the “lazy mode”. These past few days have been rather hectic and stressful. One of my junior colleagues left yesterday after working with us almost two years. Like they say if there is no love there would definitely be some attachment between him and all of us :P Well I am happy for him as he is still young and he should grab the opportunities given. As we all know, good opportunities don’t come by that often. Seize the moment!!!

All of us were busy attending farewell lunches for him sponsored by many bosses. Yeay!! Free food is always delicious. :P We were at KLCC almost every day this week for special lunch treats and thank god everything is over today. The recent treat was at the Ciao Caffe Ristorante, an Italian restaurant located somewhere along the Jalan Tun Razak. The food feast includes many types of pizzas, pastas, salad, lasagna, sandwiches, tiramisu cake, apple strudel etc. We had so much and was surprised when they asked us to “tapau” as they were plenty of leftovers. Can you imagine that?? After the yummy-licious cheese and tomato toppings, I definitely need a break from all the food binging. Help!!!! :) I just hope no one will resign in the next few months as it would be too damaging for me...hehehehe!

As a result of this food feast/food binging, something unexpected happened to me during a tea session after work with my boss and colleagues. Gosh I can’t believe it happened to me, my skirt zipper “unzap” at the wrong time and at the wrong place …...Hahahhaha! It gave way….I had to hold the skirt all the way through! I still wonder how did I ever manage to survive that incident but I guess I did it anyway. I hope it never ever happens again....fuuhhh.

Moral of the story, never have tea after work (go home or stay back to finish up work..hehe) and please make sure what ever you wear, it does not depend solely on a zipper, it has to have buttons or fasteners that goes along with it.

Have a good weekend folks!

Tuesday, August 1

Looking good at that AGE! Wow!

I had many important issues on my mind lately, but after yesterday’s appointment I can now breathe and relax. All the anxiety, anticipation and nervousness dragged over the weekend, and believe me I even had second thoughts of turning up for it but eventually decided to go for it. I am so glad I went through the entire thingy.

My weekend was filled with my little nephews & nieces and some window shopping and cruising in shopping malls. I was in KLCC last Friday checking out the Isetan sale. Didn’t find anything that I fancied but what caught my interest was a beautiful VIP sitting next to the “Bobbi Brown” counter trying out the products. She is the wife to one of the former top ministers who served the country many years ago and I would say that she is not in her 30’s or 40’s more like in her 60’s. I know that for a fact because she is related to my mom but a very distant relative. Anyway I was shocked to see how beautiful she still IS at that age. When I saw her I was like “WOW”. Her hair has a light brown shade and her skin is just flawless and radiant. A few lines here and there, I guess you would expect that from someone who has aged gracefully. She must have a wonderful life because I have seen her a few times on the magazine cover with all those huge sapphire and rubies, all happy and smiley.

I guess it helps to have all the money and stability to look that “beautiful”. I agree that money can’t buy happiness but it surely would make a difference in many ways. Most of us worry not only about our own future but also the future of the kids. We feel the need to provide for the family hence we work like hell to make sure they get the best. I believe it is all about the money. Having loads of money, you can do anything with it, you can go for vacations, facials and spas everyday. It is a must to just pamper yourself and you don’t stress yourself out to earn a living right? Everything is being done for you. I wonder how I will look like when I am 60!!! Haha! I just hope to be happy and contented with myself and my life.
